Introducing: MAAP ENVE CX Team 2019
MAAP’s partnership with ENVE Composites continues in 2019 as the co-title sponsor of the MAAP ENVE Cyclocross Team. The team for 2019 is comprised of an elite selection of riders, supported by industry leading equipment partners. MAAP ENVE is committed to progressing the sport of cyclocross.
As the Australian cross season ended in 2018 it was time for some of the team to ramp up once again to hit the USA, Japan and Europe for a full winter extravaganza of cyclocross racing. Garry competed in over 60 race days in 10 months culminating in the Cyclocross World Championships in Denmark, while Fiona’s season was cut short at just over 40 races in 8 months after she sustained a fractured vertebrae.
After returning home, the off-season quickly transitioned into pre-season as there was precious little time to waste with the new season set to kick off just two short months later. The days were still warm, the rides became longer and the past cyclocross season was soon a distant memory.
Six weeks passed and suddenly the MAAP ENVE team WhatsApp group chat began to light up. There was talk of training, bikes, kit, racing and plenty of banter. Early season races were just weeks away, the fire in our bellies began to take hold.
The team was training hard, but deep down we all knew so was everyone else. The level of competition in Australia continues to grow, not to mention new athletes move over from other cycling disciplines, athletes come back to the sport. Nothing is a given until you line up for the first race and put it all out there and see how you stack up.
Stacey hit her local cyclocross races in Adelaide, while Garry and Fiona raced in Sydney and their local races in Mt Beauty, Victoria. The team garnered some strong results including a few wins, it was evident the form was good for the coming National Series races that were just around the corner.
Undoubtedly one of Australia best cyclocross riders Garry has achieved success on the national and international stage, with multiple UCI wins against his name. His technical skill, mud prowess and punchy power makes Garry a regular on the top step of the podium. Garry is not only MAAP ENVE team captain but also fulfills the role of DJ, selecting the beats to ensure the team is in the zone for racing.@garrymillburn
Year on year, Fiona has been solidifying her place in the world of cyclocross, recording podium finishes at national and international races. Her improved skillset and technical abilities paired with a fierce attitude means that a big win is not too far away. Fiona is the team’s coffee aficionado, taking her role seriously she brings back up coffee supplies in case the towns cafes are not up to par.@__blonde___

The Cannondale SuperX has been our choice for several seasons, with its agile handling, confidence inspiring stability and all-out sprint stiffness providing all the necessary characteristics for podium topping performances. Enve deliver all our contact point and wheelsets needs with a mix of tubs and clinchers for season long training and racing needs.
“While everyone on MAAP ENVE is definitely looking for results, we have a team culture that is special. We race hard, we have fun and we always have each others back.”

Season 2019. New Goals.
The team has set some lofty goals for the 2019 season. The National Championships is always a major focus for an athlete, but this year the hunger for a jersey is greater than ever.
Three athletes, three opportunities.
“The National Championships jersey has eluded me. Last year, I probably committed to too many races and was tired before I hit the start line. This year I am mixing things up a little bit, I’m trying to do things differently.”
